ctrl LIVE: La Féline & Adame Wolf

La Féline & Adame Wolf are performing live at Control Club on 8th October. La Féline is a progressive pop project (named after Jacques Tourneur’s 1942 movie) led by singer and guitarist Agnès Gayraud. A tall brunette with brilliant personality, also an philosophy author at her jours (Dialectic of Pop, Urbanomic, 2019) . 

 

She sings in French — byzantine lyrics that ring in your head long after hearing them —, brings together her singular pop songwriting and Baudelaire, church singing and 808s, pop and deep thoughts. 

 

Think “La Question” by Françoise Hardy, or “Desertshore” by Nico, the bi- zarre pop elegance of Stereolab or the choirs textures of Elisabeth Fraser, add some minimal bass and raw electric guitar or powerful electronic or electric soars. You can feel the profound musical personality in the vocals and the lyrics. She released four al- bums yet Adieu l’enfance (2017), Triomphe (2017), Vie Future (2019) and her last al- bum Tarbes (2022), each more magnetic and ambitious, getting a British critical ac- claim. For the Control Club show she will perform as bass-drum duet with François Virot.

Adame Wolf is a Romanian solo act represented by Mădălina Gîrju, who first started releasing self produced music online at the age of 16. The sound is rooted in lo-fi, alternative pop, distinguished by smoky vocals and provocative lyrics. The debut track, "F*ck Toy," quickly gained a dedicated following within the Tumblr community. 

 

As Adame Wolf gained traction in the underground music scene, the project released a crowdfunded 4-track EP titled "ALTER" in 2021. The artist has performed in several Romanian cities, including Cluj, Brașov, Iași, and Sibiu, and recently released the single "Watering Graveyards," followed by an acoustic, self-produced EP titled "Survival Kit for Those Who Feel Everything at Once."
