The pioneers of electronic music, Tangerine Dream, will perform for the first time in Romania at the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) on June 15th, at 9:00 PM, at the Students' Culture House.
Originally from Germany, the renowned band has received 7 Grammy Award nominations and has composed a multitude of soundtracks, including for the TV series Stranger Things and the famous video game Grand Theft Auto.
Founded in 1974 by Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream has released over 100 albums in the last 50 years and has produced more than 60 film soundtracks. The band stood out in 1974 with its distinctive style, described as Kosmische Musik (experimental rock), featuring long tracks and unique structures, thus creating new dimensions in sound and shaping the genre of electronic music. Among the legendary band's film soundtracks are Ridley Scott's Legend (1985), William Friedkin's thriller Sorcerer (1977), and Michael Mann's neo-noir film Thief (1981).
Following several lineup changes, the current members of Tangerine Dream are Thorsten Quaeschning, Hoshiko Yamane, and Paul Frick. The band's most recent album is titled The Sessions Box Set: United Kingdom & Ireland, which consists of a limited edition 8-CD set in a cardboard sleeve, a 20-page booklet, and 10 separate band photos. The edition contains 8 hours of live session recordings of previously unreleased tracks, making it a delight for TG fans.
